Confirmation

At Holy Family Cathedral, we celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation in the order in which God designed them to be given; Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist. It also restores the practice of administering the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist when they reach the age of reason. Children in first grade have been prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and begin going to Confession. Children in second grade will prepare for Confirmation and First Eucharist and receive both Sacraments at the same Mass.

Registration for sacramental preparation is closed for this 2023-2024 year.  We will open registration in June 2024.

Step 1

Register to begin the process. (Sacrament Registration form here from previous email)

Step 2

Proof of Baptism is required. If your child was Baptized at Holy Family Cathedral, please contact the parish office at 918-582-6247 and be prepared with an approximate date of Baptism so that your records may be retrieved. If you were Baptized at another parish, please contact the Baptism Parish and ask for official Baptismal records to be sent to Holy Family Cathedral. Please do not send electronic copies. Official records are required and must be submitted as part of your registration.

Step 3

Pathways Faith Formation boxes support your family's faith formation journey at home with several in-parish Family Sessions throughout the year. Attend the first at-parish session to pick up your Pathways box to begin preparing at home.

Step 4

Attend the in-parish Family Sessions. At-parish sessions are held from 6 pm - 7:30 pm in the Auditorium. Parents must attend with their child who is preparing.

Step 5

Parents and children receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist are required to attend a Confirmation & First Eucharist Retreat on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 9 am until 12:30 pm in the Auditorium beginning with Mass at 8 am in the Cathedral. Sponsors are highly encouraged to attend as we will also be practicing for the Mass.

Confirmation and First Eucharist Mass will be held on Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at 10 am in the Cathedral.

Sponsors

Being a Sponsor is a lifelong commitment. A Sponsor takes on the role of a spiritual parent who "brings the candidate to receive the Sacrament, presents him to the minister for anointing, and will later help him to fulfill his Baptismal promises faithfully under the influence of the Holy Spirit." (Rite of Confirmation 5)

Confirmandi should select a Sponsor who is:

  • A practicing Catholic.
  • Confirmed.
  • Preferably not an immediate family member
  • Someone with whom they feel comfortable talking to and someone who is available to attend Family Sessions.

Please contact Milinda Sinohui at 918-582-6247 or childrensministry@tulsacathedral.com for more information.
