6 Saint Teresa of Calcutta

This icon written by Nancy Oliphant depicts St. Teresa of Calcutta, a 20th Century saint who was known for her love for the poor. She was the founder of the Missionaries of Charity who were originally founded to care for the poor people living in the slums of Calcutta. In the Icon Saint Teresa is depicted wearing the habit of the Missionaries of Charity. One of the ministries of the Missionaries of Charity is that they take care of abandoned, and physically and mentally challenged children. To represent this ministry, at the bottom left is depicted an image of one of the poor children from the slums of Calcutta standing with crutches before the Cross.
