Matrimony

Preparations

Congratulations on your engagement! Thank you for your interest in celebrating your wedding at Holy Family Cathedral! In the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma there are many resources available to you to prepare for the sacrament of Marriage.

All weddings are on Saturdays outside the season of Lent. Weddings take place at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 7:00 pm. Rehearsals are on Friday evenings at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.

Here’s a checklist of things needed before celebrating your wedding here at Holy Family Cathedral:

  • Choose a date and work with our Wedding Coordinator, Sheri Young, to sign contracts and make deposits. This step should be done as soon as possible to book your desired date.
  • Ask a priest or deacon to celebrate your wedding and book them. Typically marriage preparation classes are done with the clergy that will be celebrating the marriage.
  • Participate in marriage preparation classes.
  • Participate in a Catholic Engaged Encounter Weekend. These weekends are held at Holy Family Cathedral and are put on by the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma. To see upcoming dates, learn more, and register go to tulsacee.org.
  • Book music and vocals at your wedding by speaking with Ernest Neal. Find more details below.
  • Meet with Sheri Young to coordinate the details of your wedding.

Please make an appointment with Sheri Young by email at weddings@tulsacathedral.com or call the parish office at 918-582-6247. She will explain the process of securing a date for your wedding and signing a contract.

Vocalists

If a vocalist is required for a wedding one of the three Cathedral Staff Singers must be used. This policy exists to ensure the highest quality of music possible for your wedding. *Please contact one of the singers listed below as soon as possible to ensure availability and to plan the sung portions of the ceremony.

Sopranos:

  • Tami Losoncy
  • Karen Gingrich

Tenors:

  • Ernest Neal
  • Scott Zenthoeffer

Please contact Ernest Neal at eneal@tulsacathedral.com or 918-582-6247, to request vocalists.

*Should you desire to use a singer that is not on the cathedral staff the following guidelines must be strictly followed:

The proposed singer must submit a current and complete recording of him or her singing the selections to be used in the wedding. This recording must reach the Cathedral Organist and Music Director (Ernest Neal) no later that two weeks prior to the wedding. Mr. Neal will review the recording and decide if the singer is qualified to sing at your wedding. If for some reason the singer is not approved a Cathedral Staff Singer will be assigned.

If additional instrumentalists such as strings or brass are desired please notify the Cathedral Organist and he will assist in the hiring of approved musicians.

Holy Family Cathedral has two choral ensembles available to sing at weddings. They are the Cathedral Choir (18 persons) and the Halpine Motet Choir (8 persons). If you wish to have the Cathedral Choir sing at your wedding the fee is $100 per singer.

Questions regarding these policies should be directed to Ernest Neal, Cathedral Organist and Music Director. 918-582-6247.
