While often times small, it is important to remember first and foremost that icons aren’t just meant to behold, admire, or look at. They are meant to be participated in, venerated, often times liturgically. Icons like these are a keen reminder of the importance of year long consistent prayer, as the icon itself can be liturgically used year round, corresponding to the various depicted feasts.
