This icon of the Mother and Child is by Nancy Oliphant and is titled Lux Mundi which is Latin for light of the world. It is another example of an icon in the style of the Virgen Hodegetria or “She who shows the way.” The Christ Child reaches up to bless His Mother. Notice the light beams in the form of a Cross in the Halo of the Christ Child. Only Christ can be depicted with a Cross in His halo. Also of interest is the cap worn by the newborn Christ Child.
